How do I look up a particular mouse strain?
GUDMAP includes information on many mouse strains used to develop the data in our repository. You can use this resource to answer the following question:
Is there a Leydig cell specific mouse strain? What is the reporter allele? Is it validated?
On this page:
- Step 1: Go to the “Mouse Strain” area
- Step 2: Search for strains related to “Leydig”
- Step 3: Review Mouse Strain Documents
Step 1: Go to the “Mouse Strain” area
Click the “Transgenic Mouse Strains” link on the homepage or choose BROWSE DATA > Cell and Animal Models > Transgenic Mouse Strains in the main navigation menu.
Step 2: Search for strains related to “Leydig”
In the search box above the search results, type leydig
. One result appears: Cyp11a1-GFP-Cre.
Click the “View” icon to view the detail page for that strain.
Step 3: Review Mouse Strain Documents
Scroll down for the Mouse Strain Documents field and open the “Allele Verification” and “Allele Characterization” PDFs for more details.
In the characterization PDF, you’ll find that the allele Cyp11a1-GFP-Cre
is validated.
