New York Hilton, New York, USA. 29th August -2nd September 2010.
In keeping with the IPNA's long standing tradition of providing a friendly international venue for an exciting up to date review of the advances in pediatric nephrology, the New York City meeting is perfectly poised to welcome our global IPNA community of clinicians and investigators to what will certainly be an outstanding scientific gathering. The theme of Global Health in Pediatric Nephrology will be fulfilled by an innovative and comprehensive Scientific Program addressing the major areas of our subspecialty including new advances in translational medicine.
Prof. Melissa Little (IMB, University of Queensland) presented a talk around GUDMAP at the IPNA. - 3rd International Biocurator Conference
Berlin, Germany. 16th-19th April 2009.
The 3rd International Biocuration Conference will provide a forum for curators and developers of biological databases to discuss their work, promote collaboration, and foster a sense of community in this active and growing area of research. Furthermore, we will introduce the newly formed International Society for Biocuration (ISB). Participants from academia, government, and industry interested in the methods and tools employed in biocuration are encouraged to attend.

- Fifth International Symposium On Vertebrate Sex Determination
Kona, Hawaii, USA. 20th-24th April 2009.
The aim of the symposium is to bring together scientists and students from a wide variety of disciplines with a common interest in sex determination. There is particular interest in vertebrates that are unusual and can perhaps teach us new ways of looking at the evolution of sex determination. Main sessions cover topics such as Gonadogenesis, Sex Determination & Transcription Factors, Sex Determination & Differentiation, Male & Female Germ Cells, Sex Chromosomes & Genomics and Environmental Effects on Sex Determination, Differentiation and Fertility.

- Kidstem International Conference - Stem cells in renal development, regeneration and repair
Edinburgh University, UK. 29th-31st July 2009.
This conference brings together world leaders in the fields of kidney development, stem cell biology and biomaterial science to disseminate and discuss their latest research findings. A major objective of the conference is to promote networking and collaboration between interested groups in order to expedite progress towards the design of renal regenerative therapies.

- 16th International Society of Developmental Biologists Congress
Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. 6th-10th September 2009.
The British Society for Developmental Biology is excited to be hosting the 16th Congress of the International Society of Developmental Biologists Congress, in 2009. The 2009 Congress will highlight the best of world developmental biology, and the location in Edinburgh, Scotland's famous and beautiful capital city, should make this a memorable conference. The Congress directly follows the world famous Edinburgh International Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe – why not arrive a few days early and attend both?

La Jolla, California, USA. 1st-4th November 2009.
An exciting meeting with emphasis on cutting edge research in the fields of mammalian genetics, epigenetics, and phenotype, touching on wide-ranging areas of biology. The meeting will begin with Bioinformatics Workshops followed by the Student Satellite Meeting. It will continue with sessions on Large Scale Resources, Infectious Disease, Host Resistance and Epigenetics, Neuroscience, Behavior and Sensory Perception, Development and Neoplasia, Metabolism and Physiology, Scientific Approaches to Animal Husbandry, and Population Genetics, Comparative Genomics, and Evolution.
GUDMAP was repesented at this meeting by Simon Harding: GUDMAP poster presented at the meeting (.pdf file) - Genetics of Urologic Malformations
Washington DC, USA. 7th-9th December 2009.
The purpose of this meeting is to bring together geneticists, clinicians, and developmental biologists to discuss genetic approaches to a common pediatric congenital disorder: vesicoureteral reflux. Although several genes that cause VUR in patients have been identified, there are many children with VUR in whom no genetic cause has been identified. Finding genes will be important for diagnostics and for research on causes, prevention, and treatment. There are several recently assembled large collections of VUR patients, and the meeting also will hold a discussion session to map out strategies to use these collections for gene discovery.
GUDMAP was repesented at this meeting by Cathy Mendelsohn, Michelle Southard-Smith & Bruce Aronow.
